PE Overview

At Bury, our PE curriculum covers all skills required from the National Curriculum. Children have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of sporting activities throughout their time at Bury. As a school, we have decided to focus on a selection of key sports (stoolball, hockey, tag rugby, tennis, gymnastics) that will be repeated across the years.

Teaching the fundamental skills plays a key part in the early years and Year 1/2, to ensure that children are able to participate in more structured sport as they progress through the school. These fundamental skills will act as building blocks to allow all children to gain the foundations needed to access a range of sports. All children will be taught swimming at KS2 and will be taught traditional PE, such as: Maypole dancing and Country dancing.
