Our Class

Sparrowhawk Class
Welcome to Year 2, 3 & 4's class page
Our teacher is Miss Willett and our Teaching Assistant is Mr Gatrell.
P.E is every Friday afternoon. The children should arrive at school in their P.E kit on this day. They need to wear Navy blue or black shorts, jogging bottoms or plain leggings, their green P.E t-shirt, their school jumper and sports trainers or plimsolls. Children who do not bring their kit will have to sit out of the P.E session as we are unable to lend any kit.
Bury Rangers is every Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure the children arrive at school in their Bury Rangers clothing. They should wear their school shoes and bring their suitable Bury Rangers footwear in a separate carrier bag. They should wear long trousers (no jeans please as these take too long to dry), a long sleeved top, a jumper and a waterproof coat. Waterproof trousers are also recommended. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to provide any waterproof clothing for these sessions due to Covid-19.
Homework expectations
The children are expected to spend 5 minutes every day on the Spelling Shed game practising their weekly spellings. Our spelling lesson is every Monday morning. We have a weekly quiz based on the spellings given the previous week, and new spellings will be given. These spellings will follow certain phonics or spelling patterns that are appropriate for each child. Each child has a log in for this website which can be found in the front cover of their reading record.
The children are expected to read at home every day for 5 minutes, preferably out loud to an adult. The children have a yellow reading record where their reading must be logged everyday. This can be logged with a comment or just a signature. Dojos will be awarded to children who read at home regularly.
Times Tables Practise
The children are expected to spend 5 minutes everyday on Times Tables Rockstars to practise their times tables recall. The children earn certificates, awarded in Monday afternoon assemblies, under these categories 'most coins earned', 'increase in accuracy' and 'increase in correct answers'. The children get to dress up as rockstars and wear rockstar wigs and hold inflatable guitars and pose for a rockstar photograph when they receive a first place certificate.
Call Dojo
Class Dojo is a reward system we use alongside another behaviour system called Good to be Green. Class dojo is an online platform where parents can be involved and notified when their child has received a dojo for something positive in school, and what they have achieved it for. Please let me know if you need any help accessing this.
Good to be Green
Good to be Green is a behaviour system in which all children begin each day with a green card. The children are given a verbal warning about their behaviour if appropriate. If they continue to disrupt or break a school rule, they will be given a yellow card. The consequence of this is that they must spend part of their next play time reflecting on their choices either verbally or written. If a behaviour continues, the child will be given a red card. This means they will be asked to see Mr Moore and a phone call will be made home.
